errr mommy, why your zebra doesn’t have black and white stripes?

finally, i’ve finished the roses and sungguhlah penat rasanya….anyway, hasya came up with that question masa dia tengok i dengan tekunnya dok taruk stripes tu….ye lah, kan batter tu kaler tk putih sgt and yg lagi satu pulak kaler macam coklat gitu…..btw tak nampak black and white pun kek ni dah jadi kesukaan kanak kanak itu sebab namanya zebra kan! dari mula i buatkan all those stripes tu sampai lah dah masak dia tak sabar nak makan….actually i ingat nak bagi kek ni kat MIL…tapi sebab kanak kanak itu dah nak sesangat so nak tak nak i kenalah potong kan and bila dah potong tu dengan i skali lah memakannya hehehe…sedap babe! tak rugi i cuba buat cake ni

well, the truth is i buat cake ni sebab nak habiskan ovelette, telur and condensed milk…sebab telur pun dah habis, gamaknya esok i bawak balik je lah kek yang dah tinggal separuh ni ye!

btw, i amik resepi ni kat yat maria and as i am too lazy and too tired nak tulis panjang lebar, so i just cnp je the recipe from yat maria and adjust sikit ikut apa yang ada kat my kitchen tu and to the owner of this recipe, thanks a bunch for sharing this wonderful recipe with us…

ingredients

6 eggs

110g sugar – i used 90 gm

150g cake flour – i used self rising flour

1/2 tsp baking powder – didn’t use

1/2 tbsp emulsifier/ovalet (optional) – i used ovalette ( dunno lah sama ke tak ovelette dgn emulsifier tuh)

100g butter, melted

30g condensed milk – i used 2 tbsp je sbb tu je yg ada

1 tsp vanilla essence (optional)

2 tbsp cocoa powder )

1 tsp of instant coffee )Mix this 2 ingredients with 3-4 tbsp of hot water

method

1. Preheat oven at 350 degree F. Prepare and grease a 8 inch round cake pan. ( i used 8x8 square pan sbb itu je pan yg i nampak depan mata i)

2. Sift flour and baking powder. Set aside.

3. Beat eggs, flour, sugar and emulsifier on high speed for 10 minutes or until batter turns light and creamy, i.e. thick ribbon state. To test, lift beater. Batter drops from beater should disappear when you count from 1 to 10.

4. Pour melted butter, condensed milk and vanilla essence (if any). Mix at slow speed.

5. Divide batter into 2 equal portions. Fold chocolate solution into one of the batters.

6. Using tablespoon, scoop 3 tbsp of uncoloured batter into centre of cake pan. Then, scoop 3 tbsp of chocolate batter on top of uncoloured batter.

7. Repeat until you have finished about half of the batter. Reduce to 2 scoops each now and continue layering

8. Reduce the amount of batter gradually until you only pour 1 scoop of each batter finally. The circles become smaller and smaller as your pour.

9. Bake int he oven for 40-45 or until golden brown. Let cake in pan for 10 minutes before turning it on to a wire rack to cool complete.

Note : Emulsifer is a stabilizer for cake batter when beaten rapidly, provide delicate and soft texture to cake.

* lucky i didn’t add extra coffee coz my dotter loves this cake so much…kanak kanak itu blm pernah try pun coffee coffee ni ;-)

okay peeps! nak keluar makan jap…owh i love it when i do something for MIL..heheh the other half layan je i nak makan apa hikhik…haa yo lah tu, balik karang i jugak yang kena kemas rumah and packing…errrrgh!!!

    i pakai 8x8 punya pan and trust me, nampak besar tp td anak i makan je dah 1/4 of it tau! tak tau lah sempat tk i nk bawak balik kg ni :D

  3. zarin, that's a beautiful cake. tapikan, dunno why, i tak suka buat cake yg letak ovalette, emulsifier or yang sewaktu dengannya. sebab tu jugak i tak penah buat cake sarawak. ada difference in texture tak kalau add those ingredients?

  4. cantiknya kek tu zarin, zebranya menjadi betul.. and the cake nampak moist.. pic pun makin lawa sejak2 ada wide angle lense ni hehe...

  6. Wahhh cantik ler kek zebra tu Zarin :) Actually I also intend nak buat kek ni besok pasal ada kawan jemput bbq...tgk lah camner nanti...hehehz.

    oh itu pasal la i rasa texture cake ni macam ala ala kek lapis sikit tp i ingat i je yg perasan mcm tu hikhik...texture cake ni lembut and ada gak mcm ala2 sponge cake sikit
